National workshop on SDG indicators 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 in Bamako (Mali)

26/02/2024 - 01/03/2024

FAO is hosting a national workshop on SDG indicators 2.1.1 "Prevalence of Undernourishment" and 2.1.2 "Prevalence of moderate or severe food insecurity, based on the Food Insecurity Experience Scale (FIES)" in Bamako (Mali) from February 26 to March 1.

As the custodian agency for SDG indicators 2.1.1 and 2.1.2, FAO supports the efforts of the countries in monitoring target 2.1 “by 2030 end hunger and ensure access by all people, in particular the poor and people in vulnerable situations including infants, to safe, nutritious and sufficient food all year round”. The workshop aims to provide technical support to national institutions monitoring food insecurity in Mali to apply the statistical methods behind indicators 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 and derive estimates based on the data collected through the Enquête Harmonisée sur le Conditions de Vie des Ménages 2020/21.

Expected outcomes:

National institutions in Mali strengthen their capacities to analyse food security and nutrition data and produce meaningful and reliable indicators to inform monitoring frameworks, classification systems, and M&E assessments to guide policies and interventions, including for humanitarian response.

The estimates on SDG indicators 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 are derived using the Mali Enquête Harmonisée sur le Conditions de Vie des Ménages 2020/21.

Participants :

18 participants from 12 institutions are attending the workshop.
