National workshop on SDG indicators 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 in Palestine

Virtual Event, 02/03/2025 - 06/03/2025

FAO conducted an online training on SDG 2.1.1 (Prevalence of Undernourishment) and SDG 2.1.2 (Prevalence of Moderate or Severe Food Insecurity based on the Food Insecurity Experience Scale) with Palestine from March 2 to March 6.

As the custodian agency for SDG indicators 2.1.1 and 2.1.2, FAO supports countries in monitoring progress toward SDG target 2.1, which aims to end hunger and ensure access to safe, nutritious, and sufficient food for all. The training provided technical guidance to national institutions in Palestine on the statistical methods behind these indicators, using data from the Palestine Household Expenditure and Consumption Survey (2023) to derive estimates and strengthen national food security monitoring efforts.

Expected Outcomes:

  • National institutions in Palestine enhance their capacity to analyze food security data and produce reliable indicators to support policy development, monitoring frameworks of food insecurity in the country.
  • Estimates on SDG indicators 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 are derived using the Palestine Household Expenditure and Consumption Survey (2023).

Participants:

The training was attended by 13 participants from four institutions: the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS), Al-Quds University, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of Health.
