The report is one of four studies and summarizes the results of a rapid assessment survey on invasive woody plant species in the Western Indian Ocean region commissioned by the Forestry Section of the Seychelles, Ministry of Environment, on behalf of the Forestry Department of FAO.
This case study presents an analysis of the invasion of alien species in the islands of Seychelles. It tells the story of invasion from the analysis of the invasiveness and degree of invasion to the analysis of economic/environmental impacts and measures for restoration. The study is presents some conclusions and recommendations. The need for awareness raising and legislative framework (the specific legislation is not comprehensive and is outdated) is also expressed.
