European forestry in the face of climate change: EUSTAFOR guidelines
Year of publication 2010
The aim of this paper is to provide guidance to EUSTAFOR members on how forests can be managed to provide maximum benefits in terms of climate-change mitigation and adaptation. The guidelines, which come within the framework of the Pan European Operational level Guidelines for SFM, form a common framework of recommendations for EUSTAFOR members, focusing on the carbon balance. The guidelines are voluntary and have been developed for state forests. They support synergies between the United Nations Forum on Forests, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Convention on Biological Diversity, the United Nations Convention on Combating Desertification and other relevant forest-related international commitments.
