TCP Changemakers
Thanks to an initial USD 500 000 contribution from FAO’s Technical Cooperation Programme, FAO has secured funding from the EU for a new initiative - NAVAC (New Aquatic Food Value Chains for Sustainable Healthy Diets in Fragile Contexts) which aims to improve the availability of safe and nutritious aquatic food to vulnerable populations.
This five-year project (2025–2030) is fully aligned with FAO’s Strategic Framework and Programme Priority Areas, including Blue Transformation. It will be supported by a € 20 million contribution from the European Union (GCP /GLO/1288/EC). It will be supporting five fisheries and aquaculture value chains in Colombia, Chad, Mauritania, South Sudan & Guinea Bissau and implemented in collaboration with the Technical University of Denmark, a leading EU research center on fisheries/aquaculture product development.
