Collaborative efforts and key stakeholders drive progress in enhancing food security and sustainable farming practices

We are thrilled to announce the successful first Steering Committee Meeting held today, which marked a significant milestone in advancing agricultural development in Timor-Leste. This crucial event brought together esteemed stakeholders, including the General Director of Agriculture and Irrigation, General Director for Cooperative of Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries Timor-Leste, 10 Municipalities Administrators, and Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries Representatives from 10 Municipalities.

During the meeting, a wide range of strategies and objectives were discussed, all with the common goal of enhancing agricultural productivity, promoting sustainable farming practices, and improving rural livelihoods across the nation. These discussions centered around fostering collaboration, sharing valuable insights, and formulating effective solutions to the challenges faced in the agricultural sector.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the deep appreciation expressed for the generous support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as the primary funder of this project. Their contribution has been instrumental in facilitating the gathering of key stakeholders and driving progress towards a resilient and prosperous agricultural sector in Timor-Leste.

By embracing nature-positive, nutrition-sensitive, and climate-smart agriculture practices, we aim to bolster food security, strengthen resilience to crises, and elevate the income of farming households. The collective efforts of all participants, combined with the steadfast support of USAID, position us on a path towards sustainable development and positive change in the lives of farmers and communities.
