Urban Food Agenda

25 Oct | Our seat at the table – Maximizing transformative opportunities across the rural-urban continuum to deliver healthy diets from sustainable agrifood systems

25/10/2023

Committee on World Food Security (CFS-51) Side Event

25 October 2023 | 1.30 - 2.45 PM (CET)

Join us in advancing healthy diets and sustainable agrifood systems to combat malnutrition and achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Local and regional governments are taking the lead in promoting local food systems to drive transformative change. We're now focused on accelerating national and local efforts, tapping into the opportunities presented by urbanization and improved value chain integration.

During the event we'll discuss how to create co-benefits for communities and nature, addressing social and economic inequalities, and countering unhealthy food consumption trends. It all starts with people-centred, multisectoral approaches and strong food systems governance. Connectivity between small to medium-sized cities and rural towns is essential to ensure quality food services, affordable nutritious options, and sustainable impacts.
