Second International Conference on Nutrition (ICN2), 19-21 November 2014

Why do we need an ICN2? Answers from the private sector

In a recent post on its Down to Earth blog, Danone lays out why a Second International Conference on Nutrition (ICN2) is needed, focusing on today’s major nutrition issues. These include the double burden of undernutrition and overnutrition, micronutrient deficiencies, intensive agriculture, greenhouse gas emissions and weak international food governance. “Food management requires the commitment of all links in the food chain such as NGOs, national governments, local communities, companies, farmers and consumers,” the authors note. ICN2 will bring together senior national policymakers from agriculture, health and other relevant ministries and agencies, with leaders of United Nations agencies and other intergovernmental organizations and civil society, including non-governmental organizations, researchers, the private sector and consumers. Together, participants will identify policy priorities for improving nutritional outcomes.
