Online lecture: Critical and Equity-Oriented Pedagogical Innovations in Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems Education

In response to the confluence of ecological, economic, and social crises associated with colonial and neocolonial food systems, agroecology and sustainable food systems education initiatives that develop participants' capacities for systems thinking, multi-, inter-and trans-disciplinary collaboration, community-based learning, and collective action projects have emerged in institutes of higher education and popular social movements across the globe. In this lecture organized on 3 March, 2021 by the Center for Agroecology & Sustainable Food Systems (CASFS) within the Division of Social Sciences at the University of California Santa Cruz, a panel of speakers discusses critical and equity-oriented pedagogical innovations in agroecology and sustainable food systems education.

Speakers:

  • Selena Ahmed (Montana State University)
  • Nils McCune (University of Vermont, Latin American Institute of Agroecology)
  • David Meek (University of Oregon)
