The RA Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan received the Deputy Regional Representative and FAO Representative in Armenia Tony Alonzi.

The Minister welcomed FAOR Tony Alonzi on his visit to Armenia. He expressed his satisfaction regarding on-going cooperation between Armenia and FAO during the recent years. In addition, the Minister mentioned that almost all of FAO’s current projects in the country are on a positive track with tangible results.

“In the future, we intend to expand the scope of cooperation with FAO and implement new joint projects based on the priorities of the agriculture sector “, – said the Minister.

The Minister also emphasized the importance of application of new technologies, such as anti hail, drip irrigation, to have more pilots so that the farmers can see the benefit of using them in the sector. As for the livestock production, the Minister emphasized the importance of FAO Abattoir project.

The Minister informed the FAOR about his participation in the FAO Conference in June.

Mr Alonzi once again thanked the Minister for a very good cooperation and on-going support to the FAO progamme in Armenia.
