12月7日，联合国粮农组织驻华代表处与中国农业农村部国际交流服务中心共同举办联合国粮农组织“数字千村”倡议中国数字乡村标准研讨会暨中国数字乡村标准发布会。在研讨会上，联合国粮农组织“数字千村”倡议中国数字乡村典型案例遴选方案首次对外发布。 2020年底，联合国粮农组织启动“数字千村” 倡议，旨在利用数字技术增加粮食生产、改进农业企业管理、提升以市场为导向的农业社会化服务，力求通过“数字农业”、“数字化农民服务”和“数字化服务”促进农业粮食体系转型和农村发展，进而实现各项可持续发展目标。 “联合国粮农组织与中国在‘数字千村’倡议下的合作堪称典范。粮农组织驻华代表处和中国农业农村部紧密联系，与相关研究机构和基金会等开展了卓有成效的合作，体现了中国在农业农村数字化方面所取得的进展与成就。”粮农组织高级经济学家阿齐兹·阿尔伯里表示。 数字乡村是数字中国建设的重要内容，是农业现代化的重要发展方向。中国农业农村部国际交流服务中心副主任徐明在致辞中强调：“今天的数字乡村标准发布会既是我们广泛交流经验的良好机会，也是推进各省、自治区和直辖市数字乡村典型案例遴选工作的重要时点。下一步，我们将组织做好数字乡村案例征集和遴选工作，与联合国粮农组织和各相关方一起合作推广数字乡村发展经验，促进广大发展中国家数字乡村发展模式交流互鉴，以农村数字化建设为抓手，助力全面推进乡村振兴和联合国《2030年可持续发展议程》的实现。” 联合国粮农组织为“数字千村” 倡议打造了一个网络平台，供各国分享其数字乡村的经验做法和进展情况。目前，中国已有10个数字乡村收录于联合国粮农组织的数字乡村倡议网络平台。 联合国粮农组织驻华代表文康农说：“在‘数字千村’倡议的框架下，粮农组织驻华代表处与中国农业农村部等相关部门合作，共同制定中国数字乡村遴选标准、记录数字乡村案例以及分享中国在数字乡村建设方面的经验，这将为促进中国及其他发展中国家的数字乡村建设发挥积极作用。” 在研讨会上，联合国粮农组织、中国农业农村部信息中心、中国农业科学院、中国农业大学和阿里巴巴等机构和企业的专家在线分享了中国数字乡村发展现状，交流了数字技术在提高农业生产力、促进电商经营服务、提升乡村治理能力等方面的经验成就。
