'Source to Sea' (S2S) is a multi-focal area and landscape scale approach recently advocated by the GEF Secretariat-- and drafted by its' Scientific and Technical Advisory Panel (STAP)--to meet country commitments to multiple and relevant developing impact programmes and multi-lateral environment conventions (e.g. IW, LD, BD, CC). The most recent communication from the GEF Secretariat regarding the evolving programming strategy has emphasized that a high priority will be placed on integrated approaches (like S2S) for GEF-7.
