The "Enhancing Agriculture Water Productivity Project" meets with Farmers in Menia

Menia, Egypt - A focus group meeting was held on November 7, 2023, with ten key farmers in Menia as part of the FAO "Enhancing Agriculture Water Productivity Project" funded by Japan. The meeting was led by FAO-Egypt, Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, and Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation to illustrate and discuss the proposed modern irrigation system at Faraa Farag canal.

This project is funded by the government of Japan and implemented by FAO Egypt in coordination with the MWRI and MALR, Tottori University (Japan) as well as ICARDA with the aim to improve the utilization of water for agriculture as well as increasing agricultural productivity for smallholder farmers, raising incomes, and creating economic opportunities for poor rural households.

This meeting is part of a series of field visits and field assessments to evaluate the progress of activities under the project and to validate project results with the target beneficiaries.
