02/12/2023

Qena, Egypt - As part of the project on Enhancement of Agricultural Productivity activities, 50 sugarcane farmers from the villages of Al-Makhadamah and Al-Klahin in Qena Governorate participated in an Ask an Expert session on modern irrigation systems and sugarcane cultivation with seedlings as part of the farmers' field school activities.

The farmer field schools have been gaining so much interest among project beneficiaries due to its unique model that enhances understanding of complex agro-ecosystems and its positive impacts on farmer empowerment, food security, and poverty reduction.

The FFS approach also includes Farmer Field and Business Schools (FFBS), which help small-scale farmers and producers build skills needed for better livelihoods, integrating components such as sustainable agriculture practices, market engagement, gender and equity, and food and nutrition security, which is part of the project activities as well.
