Foot-and-Mouth Disease Simulation Exercise for THRACE will take place between 18 June 2019 - 19 June 2019 in Edirne, Turkey. Component 1.3 of the EuFMD work programme is to provide continuous support in THRACE (Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey), to improve the quality of contingency planning and operational procedures, to improve awareness of foot-and-mouth disease risk and its economic consequences and give attention to the issues affecting the laboratory capacity for rapid and accurate FMD confirmation and post-outbreak surveillance.

The aims of the Simulation exercise The aims of the exercises is to strengthen the capability of the VD at farm, local, regional and national level for FMD and thus for other TADs, to support the development of the emergency response preparedness of the country for FMD and other TADs and test the national contingency plan for FMD and the relevant operations manuals.This exercise follows several other recent exercises in the Balkan region as well as in Spain and Portugal.
