FAO facilitates a permanent structure to support the work of the Rome Chapter, the G77 & China Secretariat. The functions of the Secretariat include:

•  Assist the G77 Chairperson and G77 members,
• Offer administrative and logistics support to enhance the participation of G77 members in discussions at FAO, IFAD and WFP,
• Provide arrangements and support to meetings and events,
• Ensure efficient communication and timely dissemination of information.
