General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean - GFCM

Structure

The GFCM was established in 1949 by the relevant FAO governing bodies under Article XIV of the FAO Constitution.

it is governed by a Commission that holds its statutory session once a year, managed by an elected Bureau.

The GFCM implements its policy and activities through its Secretariat and and its sub-regional units.

To support its work, the GFCM relies on 5 subsidiary bodies dealing with relevant technical matters and with compliance issues as well as administrative and financial matters. This work is also supported by technical working groups.
