EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

The joint workshop on data collection and submission and the management of compliance-related information, including a session on fishing capacity was held in Naples, Italy, on 17–20 January 2023. The workshop was attended by 52 participants and over the course of three sessions, they reviewed the key subjects of management of compliance-related information, management of fishing capacity, and data collection and submission. In terms of compliance, the workshop focused on the enhancement of clarification tool and the development of the Monitoring, control and surveillance portal. The session on fishing capacity identified issues to be further addressed regarding data and the need of fostering technical assistance to countries, including the importance to further coordinate joint workshops on fishing capacity and data-related issues. The session on data submission determined the importance of keeping the Data Collection Reference Framework manual and online platform up-do-date and elaborated, including the constant technical assistance with tailor-made actions at the national level.
