Sub-Saharan African Soil Partnership experts mark 2015 International Year of Soils.


Making it a priority to work towards increasing awareness on the fundamental roles of soils for human well-being including food and nutrition security.

Representatives and scientists from 19 countries in Asia examined best practices and common challenges in protecting and managing the region’s soils

The GSP third Plenary Assembly (PA) will take place from 22 to 24 June 2015 at FAO headquarters in Rome.


This assembly is in charge of reviewing and prioritizing GSP actions, and facilitating a balanced regional decision-making process.

Since its establishment, the Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soils (ITPS) has played a fundamental role in positioning soils on the global agenda through sound science.



Focal Points from 20 European countries and partners from more than 20 countries participated with the overall goal to consolidate the ESP and discuss about the regional implementation plan.

La Comisión Europea apoya las actividades de la AMS

Desde su concepción,  la Comisión Europea ha sido un apoyo importante para el establecimiento de la Asociación Mundial por el Suelo, en consonancia con la Estrategia Temática de Suelos de la UE. Después de un amplio diálogo, la propuesta de proyecto presentada por la AMS ha sido aprobada y apoyada con € 1.000.000 para implementar actividades proyectadas durante el 2014 y 2015.
