AFD 

The Groupe Agence Française de Développement (AFD) is a bi-lateral development finance institution established in 1941 that works on behalf of the French government.

AFD's mission is to finance development according to France’s Overseas Development Assistance policies.

In 2007, AFD committed over €3.5 billion to more than 60 developing countries in Africa, Asia, the Mediterranean Basin, the Middle East, South America, and the French Overseas Territories.


EAF Nansen Programme

The EAF Nansen programme "Strengthening the Knowledge Base for and Implementing an Ecosystem Approach to Marine Fisheries in Developing Countries" is an initiative to support the implementation of the ecosystem approach in the management of marine fisheries.

The aim is to promote sustainable utilization of marine living resources and improved protection of the marine environment.

Notionally, the project started in December 2006 but substantively from early 2008 and has a five-year time frame. The project is executed by FAO in close collaboration with the Institute of Marine Research (IMR) of Bergen, Norway and funded by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad).


PRCM 

The Programme Régional de Conservation de la Zone Côtière et Marine en Afrique de l'Ouest (PRCM) is a joint initiative between IUCN, WWF, Wetlands International and the Fondation Internationale du Banc d'Arguin (FIBA) in partnership with the Subregional Fisheries Commission (SRFC).

PRCM covers the seven countries Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Guinea, Sierra Leone and Cape Verde. PRCM aims to coordinate the efforts of institutions and individuals to strengthen the conservation of the coastline in the coastal countries in the sub-region.


SFRC

The Subregional Fisheries Commission (SRFC) is an intergovernmental organisation established in March 1985.

SRFC has seven members: Cape Verde, the Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Mauritania, Senegal and Sierra Leone. SRFC aims at strengthening collaboration between its member states regarding the regional management of fisheries.


Sida

The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) works according to directives of the Swedish Parliament and Government to reduce poverty in the world.

The overall goal of Swedish development cooperation is to contribute to making it possible for poor people to improve their living conditions.


Wageningen UR

Wageningen UR (University and Research centre) has joined its forces in the international field by setting up Wageningen International.

Wageningen International offers easy access to all international products and services of Wageningen UR, covering education, research, capacity development and consultancy services.


NOAA

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) of the United States is an agency that enriches life through science.

NOAA's reach goes from the surface of the sun to the depths of the ocean floor as they work to keep citizens informed of the changing environment around them.
