- Supplies of Dungeness crab on the North American west coast appears to be good. Supplies of snow crab and king crab are expected to be more or less the same as in the past year.
- In the crab sector, there are some interesting developments in distribution. While sales through the foodservice sector have fallen, sales through retail, and especially home deliveries, have surged. Demand is strong and will remain so.
- Consumers have turned to home consumption, and prepared products are gaining in popularity. Asia is expected to take as much as 50 percent of the Russian production during the winter. Much of this will be sold live.
- Prices for snow crab from Canada have risen significantly but are still below average prices in 2019.
