Overview of inland fisheries

Present and future potential problems of water quality affecting freshwater fisheries in Burundi, Kenya, Malawi, the Sudan, Tanzania and Zambia have been examined, together with current and proposed methods of prevention and control of such problems. Suggestions are offered on future action that might be taken by CIFA in this field; these include recommendations on technical cooperative programmes on the evaluation and dissemination of information, the satisfying of training needs and the fostering of legislation and research relevant to the prevention and control of water pollution.
