Webinars for project leaders about the Global Capacity Development Portal

22/03/2022

The Fisheries Global and Regional Processes Team within the Fisheries and Aquaculture Division of FAO is organising a series of webinars aimed at helping project leaders, managing projects to support States in combatting illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing, to learn more about a tool that can assist them in their work.

The Global Capacity Development Portal app, available on the FAO IUU fishing Web site, has been developed by FAO to make it possible for entities to share information about their initiatives. This will help streamline efforts to combat IUU fishing, assisting coordination between different entities, and avoidingoverlapping or the duplication of interventions.

Since its launch in June 2021, the Global Capacity Development Portal is providing information about 22 projects, led by five entities, with a combined value of more than USD 27 000 000. Projects vary between those of a global nature and others involving specific countriesas beneficiaries.

A first webinar was held on Friday 11 March for project leaders within FAO. Another webinar, open to participants, will be held on Tuesday 12 April at 12.00h CEST. Interpretation will be available from English to French and Spanish.

Project leaders wishing to participate in this webinar, or those interested in learning more about the Global Capacity Development Portal, may attend the upcoming webinar by registering here.

The Global Capacity Development Portal was developed by FAO with the support of the European Union and the Government of Sweden.
