Position Title: National Project Coordinator

The National Project Coordinator’s role will be to support the National Project Director and FAO in overall coordination of the project and ensuring timely and effective support to Zamiin Uud city government and the PMU in the project implementation and M&E.

Under the supervision of FAO Representative to Mongolia and in close consultation with the National Project Director and the Lead Technical Officer, the NPC will:

 

  • Support the Zamiin Uud Project Manager to prepare annual and quarterly work plans and budget
  • Coordinate the implementation of the approved work plans, engage with stakeholders at the national level, and ensure that foreseen outputs are delivered effectively.
  • Provide technical advice and coordinate the sourcing of FAO technical support and those of project partners, while monitoring the overall progress of the work plan and the budget.
  • Support new project development and government planning to expand pilot SDS mitigation measures. Ensure consistent and high quality documentation of project implementation and lessons learned.
  • Establish linkages with similar and/or relevant programs and projects and contribute to broader program development on desertification including further resource mobilization
  • Perform other tasks as requested by FAO Representative in Mongolia and the Lead Technical Officer

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:

 

-        Higher education degree, preferably in Environmental sciences and Forestry or similar fields.

-        At least seven years of experience in the forestry and/or land-use sector.

-        Demonstrated understanding of climate change and commitment to climate change mitigation and adaptation

-        Demonstrated experience and ability to work with government agencies, both at national and sub-national levels.

-        Demonstrated ability to communicate, including advocating.

-        Demonstrated ability to manage, including project management, office management.

-        Fluent in Mongolian and proficient knowledge of English; written and oral.

-        High computer literacy in at least MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.).
