📍 13 herders from Javkhlant soum in Selenge province successfully generated sales of 23 million tugrugs by supplying lamb meat to the foreign market. These lambs, which underwent electrocautery castration, were grazed separately for three months to enhance weight gain. This approach resulted in a profit that exceeded the local market rate by 4.5 million MNT.💰
It highlights the potential to mitigate overgrazing of pasture by promoting increased live weight, meat production, and sales of male lambs at a younger age. ✅
This endeavor aligns with the mutton value chain and is supported by the ”Sustainable Resilient Ecosystem and Agriculture Management in Mongolia” (STREAM) 🌱project, funded by the 🇪🇺European Union, and implemented by 🇺🇳 FAO and 🇩🇪 GIZ.
