UN Rome Based Agencies (FAO, IFAD and WFP) received by the Government of Manica

The Country Representatives of the three agencies of the United Nations based in Rome (FAO, IFAD and WFP)  in Mozambique, who were in Chimoio for the Second National Coordination Meeting of the Programme “Support to Accelerate Progress towards the Millennium Development Goal 1c in Mozambique (MDG1c), met last April 13, with the Government of Manica Province. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Provincial Government, Chimoio.

The Permanent Secretariat of Manica, Ms Claudina Mazalo, representing the Governor said that there is a mutual interest in strengthening the cooperation between the Government and the UN Agencies, in this particular case with the UN Agencies based in Rome.

In his speech on behalf of the three Rome Based Agencies, the Representative of FAO – Mr Castro Camarada - highlighted the support the government has given the Agencies especially within the MDG1c, which is being implemented in close collaboration with the Government.

The was also integrated by the Country Representatives of IFAD and WFP, the coordinators of ODM1c programme of each Agencies as well as by the Provincial Director of Agriculture and Food Security and the Provincial Director of Planning and Finance.

The courtesy visit fell within the scope of the joint mission, FAO, IFAD and WFP who traveled to Manica to guide a coordination meeting at district level of  the Programme “Support to Accelerate Progress towards the Millennium Development Goal 1c in Mozambique (MDG1c).
