FOOD STANDARDS AND NUTRITION

Working in close cooperation with the Agriculture, Biosecurity, Nutrition and Consumer Protection Department at FAO Headquarters, the Food Standards and Nutrition Officer:

• promotes the use of Codex Alimentarius Standards and other, internationally accepted standards,
• supports the role of Codex Alimentarius Contact Points in Central and Eastern Europe,
• assists in harmonizing national standards with international standards,
• assists in the elaboration and implementation of the National Plan of Action for Nutrition in Member Countries,
• facilitates implementation of food control systems,
• establishes subregional directories of internationally accredited food laboratories, national control services, national standardizing bodies,
• supports Food Composition Data-base Network for Central and Eastern Europe (CEECFOODS),
• provides technical backstopping for field projects in the Subregion.
