Agrifood Systems Technologies and Innovations Outlook

Launched in 2022, ATIO aims to enhance understanding of technology and innovation generation, uptake, and impact, as well as the factors shaping the technology frontier in agrifood systems. It aims to be the most comprehensive global source of information on innovative solutions for agrifood systems transformation.

ATIO comprises two core components:

  • A biennial publication providing insights into current trends and prospects for agrifood systems STI, tracking technology and innovation progress globally with a focus on low- and middle-income countries, identifying emerging technologies, and addressing regulatory, ethical, gender, and environmental issues to ensure inclusivity in decision-making and research, development and innovation investments.
  • The ATIO Knowledge Base (ATIO KB), a dynamic, FAIR-access platform and catalogue of technologies and innovations in agrifood systems that continuously scans and structures agrifood innovations to support policymakers, investors, researchers, innovation users, and innovators in making informed decisions – bridging informal grassroots and mainstream innovations to ensure the effective use of STI solutions for inclusive, sustainable agrifood systems transformation.
Driving Change Through Partnerships

No single actor can transform agrifood systems alone. ATIO is built on partnership, serving as a global reference point for agrifood innovation intelligence, connecting science–policy–practice, and empowering Members and stakeholders to make informed, inclusive, and forward-looking decisions on technologies and innovations.
