The Centre was started in 1978 with the help of FAO and ODA to document unpublished information on Kenyan agriculture and make it easily available to various users  in the agricultural sector. Currently ADOC is a unit of Agricultural Information Resource Centre (AIRC) charged with acquisition, processing, storage and dissemination of agricultural and related information to information users.
