Depuis 1974, l'Organisation des Nations Unies pour l'alimentation et l'agriculture (FAO) aide ses pays membres afin de rendre leurs résultats de recherche visibles et accessibles par le biais du Système international des sciences et technologies agricoles (FAO AGRIS), l'un des moteurs de recherche les plus complets dans le domaine de la littérature scientifique alimentaire et agricole, qui permet d'accéder gratuitement à des millions de notices bibliographiques dans 260 langues différentes.
La FAO AGRIS gère le réseau FAO AGRIS, dans lequel des centaines d'organisations du monde entier apportent des connaissances et des données à la plate-forme FAO AGRIS, ce qui permet d'obtenir une collection bibliographique multilingue de recherches scientifiques en matière d'alimentation et d'agriculture, avec une attention particulière pour les informations scientifiques produites dans le Sud global. Par conséquent, le système FAO AGRIS peut être utilisé par quiconque souhaite trouver de la documentation sur l'un des domaines d'intérêt de la FAO.
