Начиная с 1974 года, Продовольственная и сельскохозяйственная организация Объединенных Наций (ФАО) предоставляет поддержку своим странам-членам в обеспечении облегчённого и широкого доступа к результатам научных исследований через ФАО АГРИС (Международная информационная система для сельскохозяйственных наук и технологий). ФАО АГРИС является одной из самых полных поисковых систем научно-технической литературы в области продовольствия и сельского хозяйства, обеспечивающей бесплатный доступ к миллионам библиографических записей до 260 языков.
Сообщество ФАО АГРИС объединяет участников организаций по всему миру, которые вносят свой вклад в расширение базы знаний и данных платформы ФАО АГРИС, что содействует пополнению многоязычных библиографических записей о научно-технических исследованиях по сельскому хозяйству и пищевой промышленности, с особым вниманием к научной информации, генерируемой в странах «Глобального Юга». ФАО АГРИС открыт для всех, кто заинтересован в нахождении релевантной информации, отображающей области интересов ФАО.
