The Institute of Water Problems and Land Reclamation of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine began its work as the Scientific Research Institute of Agricultural Land Reclamation, based on regional land reclamation organizations and research stations. The resolution to establish it was adopted on December 23, 1929. The newly created institute began its full-scale activities in May 1930 in Kharkiv. In November-December 1930, the institute was moved to Odessa, where it operated until the start of World War II (1941). After a break caused by the war, the institute resumed its activities in Kyiv in May 1944, where it continues to operate fruitfully to this day.
