The Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua (UACH) is a major public university in Chihuahua, Mexico, with its main campus in Chihuahua City. It is one of the oldest higher education institutions in the state, tracing its origins back to the Instituto Científico y Literario de Chihuahua, founded in 1835. In 1954 the institute became the University of Chihuahua, addressing growing demand for higher education in the region. In 1968 the university obtained autonomy, becoming the Autonomous University of Chihuahua.
