The Centre for Ecological Research and Forestry Applications (CREAF) is a public research centre dedicated to terrestrial ecology, territorial analysis and global change, which pursues excellence in the production and dissemination of knowledge, as well as innovation, development and the transfer of methodologies.
CREAF was created in 1987 by the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), the Institute of Catalan Studies (IEC) and the Government of Catalonia. Subsequently, the University of Barcelona (UB) and, more recently, the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) also joined CREAF.
