The SBZ is a non-profit institution whose objectives are: to bring together all people interested in the development of zoological studies; to advocate and promote studies of national fauna; to increase the training and recognition of zoologists, as an indispensable element in the inventory and study of Brazil's natural heritage; to represent the community of Brazilian zoologists at national and international levels; to promote and hold regional, national and/or international meetings and conferences; to advise and counsel official or private entities regarding the development of zoological studies, in their various subareas and/or specialties.
