Ahmed Draia University is a public university located in Adrar, a city and oasis in southwestern Algeria. It was originally founded in 1986 and later expanded into a full-fledged university under its current name in 2001 . The university has earned the nickname "African University" in recognition of its strong research focus on African studies and its diverse student body—including those from various countries across the continent.
