The All-Russian Centre for Plant Quarantine (VNIIKR) occupies a special place in the system of institutions under the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance. It serves both as the central Russian laboratory for plant quarantine, managing a wide network of regional branches and laboratories, and as a scientific centre of international importance.
VNIIKR studies harmful organisms threatening agriculture and the national economy. Its research results are published in scientific monographs and methodological guidelines for detecting, identifying, and controlling pests, plant pathogens, and weeds. VNIIKR also trains personnel, having educated over a thousand Russian and international specialists through its educational center.
