For 50 years, The International System for Agricultural Science and Technology (AGRIS) has been a trusted global platform of agricultural knowledge, connecting the world with agricultural science, research, and innovation. As a continued celebration of its 50th anniversary in 2025, AGRIS will now be known as “FAO AGRIS”. The transition to the new name will take place over the coming weeks. This change reinforces FAO AGRIS’s identity as an integral part of The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)’s global knowledge ecosystem and its shared commitment to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through open, reliable, and inclusive access to agricultural science and information.

This evolution underscores FAO AGRIS’s role as the authoritative global repository for agricultural science and technology, providing open, reliable, and inclusive access to agricultural knowledge for researchers, policymakers, students, practitioners and more.

Today, FAO AGRIS is trusted by over 52 million users worldwide, offering free access to more than 16 million bibliographic records in over 123 languages, with contributions from more than 2,000 data providers across 168 countries. By linking to both peer-reviewed and grey literature, FAO AGRIS ensures that agricultural research remains discoverable, reusable, and globally visible.

As a Digital Public Good (DPG) certified by the Digital Public Goods Alliance, FAO AGRIS aligns with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable), reinforcing FAO’s commitment to equitable access to knowledge and to advancing the SDGs.
