In a significant leap forward for agricultural research and knowledge dissemination in Central America, three prominent universities have recently joined the International System for Agricultural Science and Technology (AGRIS) Data Provider Network.

University of Panama: This institution has indexed 1,443 records, encompassing a wide spectrum of agricultural research topics. These records delve into areas like soil conservation, planting densities, biomass production, and more.

Universidad de El Salvador: As the oldest and largest educational institution in El Salvador, Universidad de El Salvador brings a wealth of expertise to AGRIS. Their contribution includes 2,280 indexed records, spanning a diverse array of subjects such as endemic plants, forestry, animal nutrition, hydrology, and crops.

University of Costa Rica: With a commitment to environmental responsibility, the University of Costa Rica has become a key player in the Central American academic landscape. Their repository boasts 8,223 indexed records, addressing a wide range of agricultural research topics.

These Central American universities' participation in AGRIS signifies a crucial step toward elevating the visibility of agricultural research in the region. This, in turn, promotes the global exchange and visibility of scientific knowledge generated in Central America.

The collaborative efforts align with FAO's mission to foster international cooperation and knowledge sharing, ultimately contributing to the transformation of more productive, sustainable, and resilient agrifood systems on a global scale.
