AGRIS

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in collaboration with its International System for Agricultural Science and Technology (AGRIS) and the University Library Consortium of El Salvador (CBUES), hosted a virtual presentation of the AGRIS system. This event aimed to familiarize member universities with AGRIS and promote the use of its extensive information resources, including a database with over 13 million bibliographic records and the AGROVOC Thesaurus.

Ruth Velia Gómez, the regional AGRIS focal point, discussed the benefits of joining the global AGRIS Network and showcased contributions from the University of El Salvador. Procedures for becoming data providers were explained, noting the monthly data collection and validation process.

Irma López, Technical Coordinator of CBUES,  emphasized the initiative's importance for member universities. Emilia González, FAO Representative in El Salvador, highlighted AGRIS's potential to enhance agricultural performance analysis, inform investments, foster innovation, and shape sustainable policies. González encouraged institutions to become data providers to increase the visibility of local scientific output. Lastly, Alba Ortiz, AGRIS focal point at FAO El Salvador, expressed her commitment to strengthening communication with interested institutions.

This collaboration aims to enhance access to valuable information resources and increase the visibility of academic and scientific production from consortium member institutions.
