La UAM is a decentralized public university, made up of a General Rectorate and five academic units: Azcapotzalco, Cuajimalpa, Iztapalapa, Lerma and Xochimilco. Each Unit is organized into Academic Divisions and Departments, which develop teaching and research activities in different areas of knowledge.
