The Real Academia de Ciencias Veterinarias de Andalucía Oriental (RACVAO) was founded in 1974. The main objective is promoting the study and research of veterinary sciences.

Its fundamental objective of promoting the study and research of Veterinary Sciences , the Academy also assists public bodies and private institutions in matters related to these sciences. The Academy organizes annual courses, congresses, seminars, and scientific conferences on current topics, and publishes its Annals containing inaugural addresses, papers presented at its events, and scientific works by its members.
