The Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) is a German federal authority responsible for ensuring food safety and protecting consumers. Its original German name is Bundesamt für Verbraucherschutz und Lebensmittelsicherheit (BVL). The office oversees the implementation of food law, monitors compliance with safety standards, coordinates recalls and risk communication, and provides scientific and regulatory support to the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture.
