The Institution of Agricultural Research and Higher Education (Institution de la Recherche et de l’Enseignement Supérieur Agricoles, IRESA) is a public administrative institution in Tunisia responsible for coordinating and promoting agricultural research and higher education across the country. Established by Law No. 90‑72 on 30 July 1990, the Institution de la Recherche et de l’Enseignement Supérieur Agricoles (IRESA) operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries (and related state research authorities). Its core missions include promoting and coordinating national agricultural research programs; developing research agendas and associated budgets; ensuring that agricultural research and higher education institutions serve agricultural production and sustainable rural development; and fostering collaboration between research, extension services, and producers. The Institution of Agricultural Research and Higher Education (Institution de la Recherche et de l’Enseignement Supérieur Agricoles) oversees a network of agricultural research institutes and higher education establishments in fields such as agronomy, veterinary medicine, food sciences, fisheries, forestry, and natural resources, and participates in national and international research initiatives.
