Rina Vasquetto at the Agroecology Month in Argentina

Rina Vasquetto is part of a large family of farmers in Adelia María, in the province of Córdoba, Argentina. Her history and passion for agriculture and livestock have been with her since she was a child. Today she manages two farms, "El Puente" and "El Mate", with 680 hectares in total, under a rational grazing system in regenerative cattle raising.

Seven years ago, she began the path towards agroecology, using process technology instead of chemical inputs, incorporating cattle and sheep, and planting a polyphytic pasture of 12 species.

The biodiversity in her farms increased and the physical, chemical and biological balance of the soil improved, increasing its fertility, which also resulted in more profitable livestock. The animal stocking rate is more than two times higher than the average for the area.

Today the farm reincorporates more atmospheric carbon into the soil than it emits, mitigating the effects of climate change.
