A unique  carp pond farming system in Austria, an agroforestry system cultivating salak, or snake fruit in Bali, Indonesia and the Cocoa Agroforestry System of Sao Tome and Principe, have become the latest additions to Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS).

On the sidelines of the FAO 174th Session of Council, an event on “Scaling-up agroforestry” examined the linkages between agriculture and forestry, with a focus on how to scale up agroforestry as a means of enhancing synergies between the sectors. 

The conference brought together research and academic institutions, government bodies, farmer organizations, civil society groups, international organizations, private sectors, media, and development partners to share preliminary research results and discuss the applicability of agroforestry solutions to the country.
