Land available for cultivation in Gaza, Palestine

14/08/2025

One new dataset has been published on the Agro-informatics Platform within the food security channel. The new data provides information on the land availability for cultivation in Gaza, Palestine.

Land availability for cultivation was assessed as of 28 July 2025 using two datasets: (1) the status of damaged cropland from FAO and UNOSAT, which includes both damaged and non-damaged areas, and (2) non-accessible areas, comprising (a) no-go areas and (b) areas under evacuation orders, based on OCHA data. The cropland damage status was derived from Sentinel-2 imagery, using data from July 2017 to 2024 as a baseline for comparison with July 2025 to conduct cropland change analysis. The data was categorized by accessibility at the governorate level and includes information on the extent of cropland damage.
