2024 was marked by significant progress and achievements as FAO has continued to drive digitalization and enhance digital capabilities for programme delivery and beyond. From 11 to 29 November 2024, FAO delivered a comprehensive Geographic Information System (GIS) training program to boost the technical skills of FAO Ukraine personnel, with focus on improving their project reporting practices. The training targeted project managers, researchers, and professionals involved in project reporting who needed to create and publish maps, regardless of prior GIS experience.

Mauritania, December 2024 – The FAO has initiated a major project to modernize hydro-agricultural development in the Senegal River Valley and foster resilience to climate change through a comprehensive strategy. The inception workshop, held in Boghé, formally launched the project “Technical support to the National Society for Rural Development for the updating of the master plan for hydro-agricultural developments in the Senegal River Valley in Mauritania and the development of a climate investment plan” (TCP/MAU/4001). 

A recent upgrade of the Agricultural Market Information System (AMIS) website marks a pivotal step to ensure that global agricultural stakeholders continue having access to vital market intelligence.
