Reporting System
Countries, regional and sub-regional focal points and international and non-governmental organizations are regularly requested by FAO to report on the status and trends of animal genetic resources, their activities and capacities. The reporting system for the implementation of the Global Plan of Action encompasses two elements: activities undertaken and outcomes in terms of the status of animal genetic resources. The information on activities is obtained from a number of sources: National governments provide country progress reports; Regional Focal Points for the Management of Animal Genetic Resources (where established) provide reports on their activities; International governmental and non-governmental organizations provide information on their activities related to the Global Plan of Action; and FAO prepares reports on its activities related to the Global Plan of Action. Information from countries, regions and international organizations is drawn together in synthesis progress reports prepared by FAO. Information on the status and trends of animal genetic resources is made available in reports prepared by FAO using data from the Domestic Animal Diversity Information System (DAD-IS).
