28-29 April 2026 | Chongqing, China

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), in collaboration with the Chongqing Academy of Animal Sciences and the Rongcheng District Government, is pleased to announce the 2nd International Symposium on Pathways to Reduce the Need for Antimicrobials to Support Sustainable Agrifood Systems Transformation, to be held in Chongqing, China, from 28 to 29 April 2026. The Symposium will convene global leaders, policymakers, experts, and partners to advance collective action to minimize antimicrobial resistance (AMR) through sustainable and resilient agrifood systems.

Building on the launch of the RENOFARM initiative in 2024 during the first Symposium, this year’s edition will focus on accelerating action and scaling up practical solutions to reduce antimicrobials’ need at farm level, and in the whole and broader agrifood systems. The event will provide a platform to take stock of progress, showcase country and farm-level experiences, foster collaboration, and strengthen implementation of the Farm 5Gs framework
